{"id":3613,"date":"2025-11-27T00:05:00","date_gmt":"2025-11-26T22:05:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arcticwatch.info\/?p=3613"},"modified":"2025-12-07T20:28:25","modified_gmt":"2025-12-07T18:28:25","slug":"millions-for-get-more-young-people-to-stay-in-the-arctic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arcticwatch.info\/index.php\/2025\/11\/27\/millions-for-get-more-young-people-to-stay-in-the-arctic\/","title":{"rendered":"Millions for Get More Young People to Stay in the Arctic"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The High North Center at Nord University receives support for a project highlighting opportunities for young people in the Arctic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project ArcticNext has recently received NOK 1.2 million in funding from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with a total budget of NOK 2.6 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We have several projects focusing on how to motivate young people to come, work, and live here.&nbsp;<em>ArcticNext<\/em>&nbsp;is a natural continuation of that work&#8221;, says Elena S\u00e6ther, researcher at the High North Center according to a press release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project involves collaboration with North American and other Arctic universities. Thonhaugen\/High North Center)<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Several participants<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>S\u00e6ther believes the key goal is for young people to gain a better understanding of the High North, see opportunities in the region, and contribute to innovative solutions for sustainable development in the Arctic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;It\u2019s about showing the opportunities that actually exist here, both to those already living here and to those considering moving north&#8221;, she says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project aims to strengthen networks among young people, highlight available jobs and educational paths, and create space for entrepreneurship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;There will be many participants involved in the project &#8211; over 100 people, which is very exciting.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Important work<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The main part of the budget will fund activities where young people can take part, including travel and accommodation costs to ensure broad participation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both Kazakov and S\u00e6ther emphasize that much needs to be in place for more people to choose to stay in the North.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Many things have to be aligned at different levels.
