His statement comes after US President-elect Donald Trump sparked fears of military engagement in Greenland, which he says he wants the US to control \u2013 a claim that was soundly dismissed by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/arcticwatch.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/GettyImages-2192359294.avif\" alt=\"&quot;I do not get any impression that we are in any foreign policy crisis,&quot; Danish Foreign Minister Lars L\u00f8kke Rasmussen told Danish media. | Ritzau Scanpix\/AFP via Getty Images\" class=\"wp-image-2625\" srcset=\"https:\/\/arcticwatch.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/GettyImages-2192359294.avif 1024w, https:\/\/arcticwatch.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/GettyImages-2192359294-300x200.avif 300w, https:\/\/arcticwatch.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/GettyImages-2192359294-768x512.avif 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">&#8220;I do not get any impression that we are in any foreign policy crisis,&#8221; Danish Foreign Minister Lars L\u00f8kke Rasmussen told Danish media. | Ritzau Scanpix\/AFP via Getty Images <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.france24.com\/en\/tag\/denmark\/\">Denmark<\/a>&nbsp;is open to talks with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.france24.com\/en\/tag\/usa\/\">United States<\/a> to safeguard US interests in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.france24.com\/en\/tag\/arctic\/\">Arctic<\/a>, after US President-elect <a href=\"https:\/\/www.france24.com\/en\/tag\/donald-trump\/\">Donald Trump<\/a> refused to rule out military action to take <a href=\"https:\/\/www.france24.com\/en\/tag\/greenland\/\">Greenland<\/a>, the country&#8217;s foreign minister said Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trump, who takes office on January 20, set off new alarm on Tuesday when he refused to rule out military intervention over the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.france24.com\/en\/tag\/panama\/\">Panama<\/a> Canal and Greenland, both of which he has said he wants the United States to control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trump&#8217;s comments came as his son Donald Trump Jr. made a private visit to the Arctic island that is an autonomous Danish territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen told reporters that the Danish Realm&nbsp;\u2013 which includes Denmark, Greenland and the Faroe Islands&nbsp;\u2013 is &#8220;open to a dialogue with the Americans on how we can cooperate, possibly even more closely than we already do, to ensure that American ambitions are fulfilled&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lokke Rasmussen noted that the United States and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.france24.com\/en\/tag\/nato\/\">NATO<\/a> had &#8220;legitimate&#8221; interests in the region because of international events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;In conjunction with the melting of the Arctic and new shipping lanes opening up, we are unfortunately also seeing an increase in great power rivalry. We see a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.france24.com\/en\/tag\/russia\/\">Russia<\/a> that is arming itself.
