According to The Spectator magazine \u201cToby Young is associate editor of The Spectator\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Toby\u2019s article<\/a> in the Spectator today:<\/p>\n

On Sunday, the BBC did something unusual. It invited Luke Johnson, a climate contrarian, to join a panel with Laura Kuenssberg to discuss net zero. As followers of this debate will know, the BBC\u2019s editorial policy unit issued guidance to staff in 2018 saying: \u2018As climate change is accepted as happening, you do not need a \u201cdenier\u201d to balance the debate.\u2019 Although it did allow for exceptions to this rule: \u2018There are occasions where contrarians and sceptics should be included within climate change and sustainability debates.\u2019 Presumably this was one such occasion.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The other two people on the panel \u2013 Chris Packham and Layla Moran \u2013 are members of the climate emergency camp, so there was no pretence of \u2018balance\u2019. At one point, the exchange between Johnson and Packham became heated and when the latter invoked the recent downpour in Dubai as well as extensive wildfires in the \u2018global south\u2019, as evidence of the effect of anthropogenic global warming, Johnson challenged him to come up with evidence that extreme weather was caused by carbon emissions.<\/p>\n

\u2018It doesn\u2019t come from Toby Young\u2019s Daily Septic [sic], which is basically put together by a bunch of professionals with close affiliations to the fossil fuel industry,\u2019 replied Packham. \u2018It comes from something called science.\u2019<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

According to Mr. Young on X (formerly Twitter) yesterday:<\/p>\n

Chris Packham says at the end of this clip that the Daily Sceptic is put together by people with close connections to the oil industry. A flat out lie. None of the editors have any such connections. You’d think someone so quick to sue others for libel would be more cautious. https:\/\/t.co\/K2gkh6p128<\/a><\/p>\n
